I got into acting when I was a little kid at the age of eight. I did TV commercials and, in fact, Gilda Radner played my mother in a TV commercial for British Columbia Hydro, which is what they call the electric company in British Columbia, BC Hydro. I did that and then, three years later, when I was about 11, somebody said – I fell in love with Gilda Radner and I cried on the last day - and somebody said, “Hey,” my brother said, “your girlfriend [Gilda Radner] is on this dumb show that doesn’t even have a name and it’s called ‘Saturday Night’ or something.” And it was “Saturday Night Live.” I saw the show. I turned to everybody in my house and said, “I’m gonna be on that show one day.” They laughed in my face, which they should have. I continued to do TV commercials. Then I auditioned for Second City Theater Company in Toronto, which is a theater company where a lot of the people from “Saturday Night Live” had come from, including Gilda Radner. On my last day of high school, my last exam was 9 o’clock. My audition was at 12 o’clock for Second City. I got hired at 3 o’clock. From that moment on, I was at Second City. Then I moved to England and I was in a comedy double act called “Malarkey and Myers” because I’d always wanted to live in England because my parents were from England. And then I got hired for – then I came back and did Second City Chicago – and then I got hired from Second City Chicago to “Saturday Night Live” in 1989. In ’92, I did Wayne’s World and then it’s all the movies since and here I am.
