What most producers do is producers are actually working on individual shows, and they work on one show at a time. I have a production company now, so we have to produce. We produced 18 projects this year. So some of them I’m physically producing; I’m the person in the control room landing the show on the logo. But the majority of my projects I’m the Executive Producer – the most glorious title in entertainment, the most abused title in entertainment – but I’m the Executive Producer, which means somebody else is hands-on producing it and I’m generally overseeing it. I think that producer is a word, is a profession, that applies to lots and lots of different people who do lots of different things, and, if the television business were more mature, had it been around for more than really sort of 57-60 years, I think all the different jobs in television would be more defined as then just producing. But I think that, you know, you don’t necessarily want to be a producer, and I don’t think you wake up thinking, “What will I produce today?” I think you wake up thinking, “I really love television.” I think you’ve got to really love television to go and do this, and it’s something which I find a little bit of a disconnect with a lot of young people who go and do this job is they want to be television producers but, when you ask them what television they watch or what television they love, they don’t really watch a lot of television, and I don’t think you can – I don’t think you can not watch and not love television and produce TV shows.
