Well, as a veterinarian I take care of the health of dogs and cats, I guess all animals, but primarily dogs and cats. But as a veterinary dental specialist, and we’re sort of few and far between. There’s maybe 90 of us in the whole world. We specialize in the treatment of dental and oral problems in dogs and cats. Believe it or not, dental problems are the most common problems we see in dogs and cats. Studies show 85 percent of dogs over the age of 3 have significant dental problems, and the consequences go way beyond bad breadth. Painful oral infections, spread of bacteria to distant body systems are just some of the consequences, so it’s one of those sort of rare jobs, yet it’s something that the pets really need.
