I think my first real job was I was an assistant/secretary at Creative Artists right out of college. From there, I went to work for Peter Guber and John Peters at PolyGram Pictures as a junior executive and moved up very quickly through the ranks and became president of production I think at age 25 or 26. When I was a young assistant at Creative Artists, there was sort of a young geeky writer walking the halls who had just left working for National Lampoon by the name of John Hughes, who was sort of trying to get the attention of his agent. And I was always very chatty with him, and then when I went on to my first real executive job, he’s one of the first persons I called and said, hey, I’m in this job, I’m supposed to call writers I think for scripts; do you got any? He said, yeah, I just wrote two. And he sent me two scripts: One was called 16 Candles and one was called Breakfast Club, so that was a good writer relationship that kind of worked out.
